Buyer Guide
Exterior
  • Always check the car in broad daylight.
  • Check all the body panels for dents, scratches.
  • Check the paint condition, like: gloss, bubbles, overflow, and color mis-match. Any anomaly indicates that the car may have met with an accident. In this condition take out the weather strips & check for original weld spots.
  • To check for accident, sealant application to be checked around all panel joints (Indoors, Back door, Roof etc.)
  • All 5 tyres to be checked for groove left and uneven wear pattern.
  • Check all the lights (Head light, Tail Lights and Indicators) for proper functioning, broken glass and inside moisture formation.
Interior
  • Seat to be checked for seal reclining and sliding movement.
  • Lift the carpet & see for floor damage or rust.
  • Check seat belts for proper functioning,
  • Check operations of all instruments panel components like (Panel which contain the speedometer)
  • All operations to be checked for cabin cooling, knobs operation in all position and vents conditions.
  • In coastal areas, check the rusting problems in floor areas and below the seats.
  • Check all window operations for proper functioning and glass condition.
  • Check all doors for door locks and opening from inside and outside.
  • Check the wiper operation in all modes along with wiper blades condition.
  • Check cabin lights and headlights, taillight operations.
  • Check the availability of Jack, Jack handle and tool kit.
Road Test
  • Always check the car in broad daylight.
  • Check all the body panels for dents, scratches.
  • Feel any abnormal noise in the steering.
  • Proper functioning of brakes.
  • Listen for any excessive noise from the body, rattling noise from the doors.
  • Paint mismatch, fading problems to be minutely seen as it impact the overall appeal of the car.
  • To check for accident, sealant application to be checked around all panel joints (Indoors, Back door, Roof etc.)
  • All 5 tyres to be checked for groove left and uneven wear pattern
  • Check all the lights (Head light, Tail Lights and Indicators) for proper functioning, broken glass and inside moisture formation.
  • Check for blue, black smoke from the exhaust. Blue smoke indicates heavy wear & tare to the engine.
  • Check for clutch slippage. Even at high revolutions of the engine the car doesn’t speed up and engine revolution sound increases.
Engine Room
  • Ask for following documents in original:
  • Check sealant application for accident checks
  • Check engine oil, Break oil level and engine oil condition (Color, thickness)
  • Listen for any abnormal noise from the engine.
  • Leakage and damages to be checked visually
  • Check battery condition (Age, Charging and splash etc.)
  • Check engine and chassis numbers of ID Plates.
Documents
  • Ask for the original RC & invoice.
  • Verify the no of previous owners & status of hypothecation from the RTO.
  • Always take the payment receipt from the sellers.
  • Take commitments that R.C will be transferred in your name.
  • If there is "no-claim-bonus" is not there in the insurance, check for the claim details.
  • If the vehicle is registered in another state ask for the no objection certificate from the previous RTO. In that case you have to pay fresh road tax at the time of transferring in your name.
  • The engine number, chassis number & the color, etc mentioning in the RC should match with the vehicle.
  • Check the current registration details for following:
  • Migrate from other state, original color, number of owners, endorsement for LPG/CNG Prefer document transfer in your name by the seller only.
